Elementary Seat
Dayna ShoellI’m Dayna Shoell, and I hope to represent you on the GEA Board of Directors, which exists to promote public education and advance the professional and economic well-being of educators. I’ll work to these ends for teachers at your school, at the district level, and at the state legislature because I believe that a supportive, professional environment for teachers leads to positive, supportive learning conditions for students.
As a GEA Rep for many years in both high-needs and high-achieving schools, I’ve gained a personal understanding of the challenges of educators in both environments. Most teachers are concerned about salaries and benefits; working hours and class sizes; evaluation and professional development; social justice and equity; and micromanagement by state lawmakers and others. I’ll support solutions to decrease teacher burn-out and demoralization, and to increase job satisfaction and autonomy. I’d love your vote for the GEA Board of Directors. Thank you! |
Heidi JensenGEA is Granite Teachers most important support system; I would be honored to serve for another term. I bring a repertoire of experience to the Board. I’ve been involved with GEA my entire career, serving as AR and Board Member. I’ve been involved with UEA and NEA and know how that work supports GEA to continue the same. I have rallied, marched, voted, and attended Leadership Training. I believe this experience has made me a smarter union member. Our world is constantly changing and I believe that teachers are flexible and creative to meet these challenges. I will make sure that my voice represents you in finding solutions. I would be honored to represent Elementary teachers and I’m ready to serve on your behalf! I would appreciate your vote.

At Large Seat
David PageOver the past three years, it has been my privilege to serve as a dedicated member of the GEA Board of Directors. I have worked diligently to advocate for your interests within the GEA Board, UEA House of Delegates, and NEA Representative Assembly, while also providing support to the Association Representatives in the schools of the Cyprus High School network.
The experience has been incredibly rewarding, and I am grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow in this role. However, I believe there is still more that I can contribute. That's why I am thrilled to announce my candidacy for reelection as an at-large member of the GEA Board of Directors. I am eager to continue working alongside each of you and contributing to the success of our organization. Thank you for your ongoing support, and I look forward to the opportunity to serve you once again. Melinda HortinMy name is Melinda Hortin and as a dedicated advocate for education and a proud member of our teaching community, I am excited to declare my candidacy for the GEA Board. With nine years of experience in the classroom, and six years working in Granite, I bring a wealth of firsthand knowledge about the challenges and triumphs that educators encounter daily.
My candidacy is grounded in a firm commitment to three core principles: advocacy, collaboration, and empowerment. I am deeply committed to advocating for the needs and concerns of educators, ensuring that our voices resonate strongly in every decision-making forum. As a member of the Granite Education Association Board, I will ensure that teachers' perspectives and interests are represented effectively. With a proven record of leadership on the GEA PAC Committee, I am confident in my ability to serve effectively and uphold the values of excellence and equity in education. |
Leslie BishopMy name is Leslie Bishop, middle school English teacher an building associate representative for eight years, since my very first year as a teacher. I have been honored to serve in that capacity, helping teachers and administrators in my building understand our professional agreement and protecting the rights of teachers. I have been to Capitol Hill in defense of teachers, and have help protest signs in front of my building in defense of teachers. Now I would like to serve you in the district as an at-large member of the GEA board of directors. I want to be more involved in keeping our association viable and strong. I want to represent your interests with the union board and the UniServ Directors. I am ready to take on more responsibilities to keep our profession safe. I invite you to vote for me. I would, again, be honored to serve.
Cheryl JindeelI’m Cheryl Jindeel, and I’m a candidate for the At Large Director position. I bring a wealth of leadership experience to this position from both my time in education and my former military career. I have over 10 years of experience in middle school and high school classrooms across three states and was selected as a Utah Teacher Fellow. I’m deeply involved in the community at Granger High School where I teach social studies, lead the World Geography PLC, and coach the sophomore girls’ volleyball team. In GEA, I serve as an Association Representative and a committee member. My background in logistics and supply chain management from my military service, along with my teaching experience, equips me to be a strong advocate for all GEA members. I'm dedicated to enhancing the quality of education in Granite School District. Vote for me to represent you on the GEA Board of Directors!

RA Delegates
Alex LoreMy name is Alex Lore (he/they) and I have been an English, Journalism, and Creative Writing teacher at Taylorsville High School for the past eleven years. When I first started teaching, I worried an openly queer and transgender teacher like me could not safely exist in the profession. With the current legislative efforts to ban books and the mere discussion of gender identity, LGBTQ+ and race issues from classrooms, I fear that worry might soon become reality as marginalized teachers are being pushed out of the profession. We, like our marginalized students, are being told we cannot exist in public education spaces without the fear of being criminalized or harassed. I refuse to let that happen quietly. As NEA delegate I will advocate for policies that meet the needs of all teachers and all students for safety, trust, and value in their profession and public education as a whole.
